For the Month of April, our Prototype Kid of the Month is 14 year old Luke McGrath. Here is the e-mail and response I sent to Luke. This kid is awesome!

“Hey Luke,

As you know, you have been chosen as the Prototype Kid of the Month for the month of April. You also know that we only choose one kid a month, from all our kids classes for this accolade.
Being the Prototype of the Month goes beyond physical performance. Its a true statement of overall character, integrity, attitude and willingness to be successful here at CFP.
Every month it gets harder and harder to choose someone because you are all doing so well and are super pumped about what you do here at the box.
The reason why we chose you is that you represent what we believe in. You work hard every time you are in here. You are constantly encouraging others. You’re tremendously respectful to others and one of the most humble kids I’ve met. In addition, you constant positive attitude towards whatever we are doing that day shows tremendous character and we notice that.
What we do here is challenging and you work even harder to make the best of it and that’s great bud!
Please answer these questions in detail and include a pic that you would like on our website, facebook and up in the box.
1.) Describe:

Coach Mike”

My name is Luke McGrath I am an 8th grade student from Westborough who likes to watch and play most sports, to talk about politics, and to hang out with my friends. I am originally from Jersey and most of my family lives there. I also go there for most of the summer, which will keep me from CrossFit for a few weeks, but I will be looking for another CrossFit down there (I do not want to miss any WODs while I am gone). Also, I play lacrosse for the Westborough town team and for a separate team called Red Bandana, which plays against all different towns and teams in Massachusetts. Some other sports I play are soccer in the fall, REC basketball in the winter, and golf in the spring, but lacrosse is definitely my favorite.
I started going to CrossFit this year right after Christmas. I had heard about it from my friends, Jonathon and Sam; they have been going since CrossFit started having kids classes and they seemed really excited about going a few times a week. So I decided that a membership to CrossFit would be a great gift to put on my Christmas list. Once I received my membership I was very excited to see what CrossFit was all about. After only one class I knew that it was a great decision to get a membership. I started going a few times a week and then they started adding more kids strength classes a week and now I have been going 4 or 5 times a week. After all the classes I have gone to I have started to notice myself becoming stronger and even a little a bit faster at practices.
My favorite thing about going to CrossFit is the fact that everyday there is a new WOD. I like this because it means that every time I go into CrossFit there will be a new challenge waiting for me and a different part of my body will be getting worked each time I go. Which is good because it allows me to get stronger in all different ways. Also, if I could have one super power it would be to be able to mind control because I think it would be pretty cool to be able to make people do whatever I wanted them to do like my homework or other things. Lastly, my favorite quote is “Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours” – Yogi Berra. I enjoy this quote because not only is it funny but it also has good meaning about how you should be nice to other people and they will be nice to you.
