Share your Prototype experience and fitness journey.

I’ve been in a gym since I was 16 years old.  Exercise has always been a part of my life and helps me focus, keeps my energy up, and overall makes me happy.  It’s part of my lifestyle that I hope never changes. I joined Prototype a couple years ago as I wanted an environment that would really challenge me. I was so nervous in those first few classes, but knew I needed a change from the same old routine. The experience has been amazing because the challenge never ends – I can always go faster, heavier, or improve my technique. Every coach cares – they share the smallest tips that makes all the difference. From the first day I walked through that door, I felt cared for and never intimidated. That’s how I knew it was the right place for me.  When I look back over this short time, I accomplished things I never thought I could, like double unders, box jumps. The feeling when you accomplish something that seems so out of reach is just incredible.

What is your favorite part about being at Prototype?

So many things – I am stronger than I ever have been. Hitting a PR makes me feel so good. However my favorite is being supported and cheered on my friends. And I truly mean friends. The people I have met at Prototype, members, coaches, and staff included, only build up my confidence – and that is only something a friend does.  I have so much fun at 5am and it sets the tone for my entire day.

What are your hobbies and activities?

I love the beach and the ocean, specifically Norton Point on Martha’s Vineyard. Watching my kids, Colin (16) and Meghan (14) play football, lacrosse, field hockey, and gymnastics.  Walking my dog, Brody.  I read so many books that I can’t remember the names of them. Going to breweries with my husband.  And of course, working out and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy working. I’m a Benefits Manager and one of my primary roles is supporting the physical, emotional, and financial health of our Associates –something I’m very passionate about.

How has (if it has) Prototype helped you outside the gym (in sports etc)?

Prototype has built up my confidence more than any other exercise I’ve ever done.  It eases stress and anxiety. It has certainly helped me physically, but overall, it has helped me more emotionally than anything else.  Setting a goal, working hard towards it, and accomplishing it – these are skills that translate to just about anything I do in life.

What are you continuing fitness goals to this point?

So cliché, but weight loss- or more importantly getting back down to where I feel most comfortable in my clothes.  I’m just being real here because every year that goes by makes it harder to keep the weight off and my self-control isn’t what it used to be. Besides working on my nutrition goals, my fitness goal is to get my toe to bar. I’m making progress, but have some hard work to do to accomplish that one!

What is your favorite quote?

Not exactly a famous quote, but “Be grateful”.  This sums up how I try to live my life every day and keeps me resilient.   I am so grateful for the health and happiness of my family and friends. I try not to take the important things in life for granted but rather show appreciation for the many blessings in our lives. Life can change on a dime, so I’m not going to waste my time complaining about the small stuff. (Except burpees  – I complain about burpees. And overhead squats.)
