Prototype of the Month: Robby Doretti

Share your CrossFit Prototype experience and fitness journey

The first time I picked up weights and started working out was 4 years ago when I got to UNH. I had no idea what I was doing, but started learning and began a routine with a couple of buddies. I remember feeling self-conscious at first since I didn’t know what I was doing and wasn’t able to lift that much weight, but remembered the classic line – “Everybody has to start somewhere.” I stuck with the routine (classic chest/triceps, back/biceps) until I came home for spring break my Dad told me about CFP and how I should give it a try. After that there was no turning back, I was hooked. I’ve been at CFP ever since and have always looked forward to coming home from school for winter and summer break. I wish I could have continued doing CrossFit year round at UNH, but unfortunately had to stick to traditional working out. I used my time at school to focus on getting stronger so when I came back to CFP I could try to beat Ben and Garret (lol). I’m now able to do CrossFit year round while surrounding myself with amazing people trying to chase some gains – what more could someone ask for.

What is your favorite part about being at CFP?

I love everything about CFP, the CrossFit/lifting part of it, but more importantly all the great people around me. Over the years I have gotten to know so many people and created awesome friendships that extend outside the gym too. I don’t think I would be where I am today and be able to continue pushing myself towards my fitness goals day in and day out if it wasn’t for the great community we have. CFP is a part of my day that I always look forward to, even after a long day of work because I always leave the gym in higher spirits and a feeling of accomplishment.

What are your hobbies and activities?

CrossFit has become a huge part of my life so you’ll find me here a lot of the time, whether I’m working out or just hanging around. Outside of CFP though, I’m either hanging out with friends/family or relaxing at home watching Netflix/playing video games. Super short and simple, but that’s my life – work, workout, hangout with friends/family, relax. That’s all I need in life 🙂

How has (if it has) CFP helped you outside the gym?

CFP has helped me form a mindset to be motivated, hardworking, and focused both inside and outside the gym. CFP built a foundation and allowed me to put the necessary steps in place to strive to become the person I want to be and achieve my goals. Some of those steps include eating healthy day in and day out, giving 100% in whatever it is I do, stepping outside my comfort zone and always having an open mind and continue learning every day. Hard work is never ending, but hard word does pay off.

What are you continuing fitness goals to this point?

My goals are to continually push myself both physically/mentally while doing something I love every day. Of course there’s a super competitive part of me so I’d like to keep challenging and testing myself by entering competitions as we progress through the year. Aside from that, I just want to lift heavy, get stronger, move faster and be the best I can be.
