1.) Share your CrossFit Prototype experience and fitness journey.
We actually met at Boston Sports Club in Lexington. I (Jen) had just graduated from college and wanted a free gym membership, so I got a job working at the front desk scanning members in. This cute guy kept coming up to talk to me during his workout, and eventually (finally) he asked if I wanted to go see Harry Potter with him. Eight years later, Joe and I still love Harry Potter and we still love to spend our time together being active.
Being active is something we place a lot of value in, so we have always tried to motivate one another to keep busy. We love to hike, bike and take our dog for walks together. Joe actually climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2012 with his brother! (I bailed on that one…)
A few years ago, we fell off the fitness wagon a little bit. I was working full-time and in graduate school part-time, and I felt like I didn’t have time to prioritize my health. I think we both suffered from that, so when I graduated, Joe jumped on the opportunity to find something new for us to try together. We drive by Prototype every day and it looked like a fun challenge, so we decided to give it a try. After the first class, we were both hooked. I think the fact that we both love it means we can keep one another motivated!

2.) What is your favorite part about being at CFP?
We love the community at CFP! We have both struggled with sticking to a workout routine. The positive energy and continued support from the physical trainers and the other members keeps us coming back. We’ve dropped in at other Crossfit gyms during our travels, and we can both say with certainty that there is something special about the Prototype fitness gym.

3.) What are your hobbies and activities?
Oh dear, where do we start? Joe is a culinary artist with a lot of interests. We make chocolate from beans and swiss cheese from scratch. We brew cider, mead, and kombucha.
Also,
Hot tubs…

4.) How has (if it has) CFP helped you outside the gym (in sports etc)?
CFP has changed the way we approach our day to day lives. We both have so much more energy, and we make healthy choices that support our fitness goals. Starting Crossfit was a humbling experience because it was something so new for both of us. The personal fitness trainers really taught us to push ourselves in new ways, both physically and mentally. We want to continue the progress we’ve seen so far, so we are actively making healthy choices to support our healthy lifestyle.

5.) What are your continuing fitness goals to this point?
Jen will do a pull-up and a toe to bar by the end of the year if it’s the last thing she does.
Joe’s goals are to master handstand push-ups and muscle ups, and work on overhead mobility.
