Sara: I have been CrossFitting for about 3.5 years. I joined CFP last September after moving up to the area to be with Barry. The sense of community and belonging I feel at CFP is unlike any other gym I’ve been a member of. Before CrossFit I had always been a runner and that would often become boring and monotonous. I love the variety of workouts that CFP has to offer.
Barry: Working out after college has been an on again off again struggle. I would quickly lose interest in any workout that I started.  I had been curious about CrossFit from the first time I heard about it and decided to join CFP 2 ½ years ago. Since then, I have found one of my greatest joys in life. I not only have kept up with working out and staying fit, but I have developed a love and need to keep this in my life for good. This is all thanks to the people who coach, and the members who make CFP what it is.
What is your favorite part about being at CFP?
Sara: I love the positive environment that is CFP. It’s great to be able to surround yourself with people who share the same values and goals. There’s been countless days that I would not have been able to finish a WOD if it wasn’t for other members and coaches cheering me on. The members and coaches have become a second family.
Barry: My favorite part about CFP is the people, both coaches and members.  No matter what class I go to during the day, I always encounter friendly, upbeat, and happy people who are always full of constant encouragement
What are your hobbies and activities?
Sara: I enjoy competing (against myself) in triathlons. During the winter I like to snowboard and snowmobile.  For the past 6 months I have had the best time planning our upcoming wedding! Family and friends have always been at the center of my life, I try to spend as much time as I can with them.
Barry: Working out at CFP of course…I enjoy fishing, hiking, and skiing. I try to spend as much time with family and friends as I can.
How has CFP helped you outside the gym?
Sara: CrossFit has helped improve my running in terms of endurance and stamina. I have also noticed how my improved strength has been invaluable at work with lifting and moving of patients. My mood is always better after a good WOD too even if going through the WOD is painful in itself!
Barry: CFP has helped me significantly at work. I have a physical job which often requires lifting and carrying. I have improved strength and I am more aware of proper form.

What are your continuing fitness goals at this point?
Sara: I would love to be able to complete Grace RX, even if it takes me 10 minutes! I would also like to complete another Half Ironman.
Barry: My goals are to improve strength and increase mobility. I would like to hit a 200lb clean and get muscle ups by the summer.
