Scavenger, Fitness, and Perfect Days

By: Mike Collette (Owner of Prototype Training Systems)

We do all of this hard work in the gym to enable us to pursue life and the things we want to do OUTSIDE the gym.

When you’re 90 years old you may not care about your 1RM Back Squat, but you WILL be glad you climbed Mt. Washington or ran that half marathon. Squats and what you do in the gym just helped you get there!

In conversation with a friend last week, we started talking about the weekend ahead. He mentioned that he was on dad duty (as he called it) and had baseball games to coach all weekend. He asked me what my plans were, and I said that I was going to work out, play golf, and go to the beach. He then said, “you’re living the dream!”. I said, “no, I’m living my perfect day!”.

Few of us will ever be the smartest in our circles.

Few of us will ever be the best-looking.

Few of us will be the wealthiest.

Few of us will win the CrossFit Games or make it on the PGA tour.

But ALL of us can live our perfect day. And fitness creates that opportunity better than anything else.

Every year I rewrite my perfect day. Since getting a dog (Koda) my perfect day has changed a bit from what it was last year. However, my perfect day always consisted of a workout and spending time with my wife (Erin). No matter how my perfect day has changed, fitness and being at Prototype has been part of it.

A goal of ours at Prototype is to facilitate enough memorable experiences so we can hopefully be part of your perfect day.  Many times, when I see people outside the gym, they’ll say “Hey, remember that time I …” and share a story from the gym or a workout that they remember that they crushed (or crushed them) or an event that we did. Many people have rewritten their life stories at Prototype. Developed everlasting and long term relationships. It’s changed them in some way. Fortunately for you, this coming weekend we have an event that should be a memorable one.

The 2020 Amazing Race (Partner Scavenger Hunt). This is our 6th year doing this event and each year it gets better and better. Coach Leah is heading this up and this will be the first in-person event that we have done at Prototype since COVID-19 has impacted our lives. This is going down this Saturday (September 12th) and starts at 7:00 AM. The link to sign up is here! So grab a partner as you will make your way around Westborough picking up things on your list and completing tasks along the way!

Run, ride a bike, or get involved with us virtually this year, it’s your call. Family and friends are welcome to participate but don’t forget to wear a Prototype shirt/tank the day of!

Let your perfect day starts at Prototype.
