What We Are Doing To Keep You Safe

By: Michael Collette (Owner of Prototype Training Systems)

As we move into the next phase of indoor training at Prototype, it’s important to us to continue to communicate everything we are doing to keep you (our Prototype family) as safe as possible. As of Monday, November 9th, all of our classes and training will be fully indoors. As the weather is getting colder here in Massachusetts, our outdoor training needs to be brought inside.

Below is a comprehensive list of all the things that we are doing, have done, and will continue to do to keep you safe.

  • Operating at less than 50% of total capacity

      • Per the State of Massachusetts guidelines and regulations, we are operating at 50% of the maximum capacity of our facility or 10 people per 1,000 square feet. If you do not have an occupancy number on file, the number to use is 10 people per 1,000 square feet.
        1. The building department informed us that there was no occupancy number put on the occupancy permit.
        2. Our total square footage is just over 7000 sq/ft which means we can have 70 people at Prototype at once.
        3. We are limiting that to half of that at our facility at a time. So the max occupancy you will see at Prototype is roughly 25-30% based on the guidelines.

  • One way in, one way our system

      • Arrow markings indicate the flow of traffic into and out of the gym

  • Visual marking and signage

      • COVID guideline signs, hand wash, temperature check and hand sanitizer signs spread throughout the facility.

  • PPE Policy (Face Mask)

      • A mask must be worn upon entry into the facility and anytime where the participant is not in their designated training area.
      • If you cannot maintain a 6-foot social distance, you will be required to wear a facemask.
      • You will not be required to wear a facemask when exercising in your training space unless you are not able to maintain proper distancing.
      • If you would like to wear a mask you are able to

  • Improved air duct filtration and air-flow

      • Germicidal UV lights
        1. Ultraviolet energy (ultraviolet germicidal irradiation or germicidal ultraviolet) could be a powerful tool in the fight against COVID-19.
        2. This is an additional element we have added to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
      • MERV-13 Filters
        1. Research has shown that the particle size of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is around 0.1 µm (micrometer).  However, the virus does not travel through the air by itself.  Since it is human-generated, the virus is trapped in respiratory droplets and droplet nuclei (dried respiratory droplets) that are predominantly 1 µm in size and larger. ASHRAE currently recommends using a minimum MERV 13 filter, which is efficient at capturing particles in 1 µm to 3 µm size range.
      • Doors will remain open with fans pushing air out of the facility

  • Additional Standalone Air Purifiers

      • One in each bathroom, back office, front desk, and lobby area
      • HEPA filters (“high-efficiency particulate arresting”-HEPA)
        1. “Air purifiers with HEPA filters are highly effective at filtering out viruses such as the COVID-19 coronavirus.”

  • Physical partitions/training barriers

  • Increase cleaning protocols

      • Nightly professional cleaning
      • Daily Cleaning
      • Post-workout sanitizing
      • Cleaning solution and hand sanitizer is located at each training station

  • Mandatory temperature check stations

      • Each person logged and checked in
      • Contactless system
      • Coach/Front desk attendant will take and log each participants temperature
      • A temperature over 100 degrees not allowed to workout

  • Hand sanitizer stations

      • Upon entry and exit
      • Multiple stations throughout the facility which are marked

  • Outlined and marked training space

      • 8×8 (64 sq/ft) training spaces marked by 2-foot lanes around the perimeters
      • We have 33 designated training stations throughout the facility
      • Each station will be outfitted with a physical barrier around them
      • Additional barriers are being constructed

  • Class capacity

      • We limit 15 participants per indoor group class
      • All classes must be reserved prior to with WODIFY
      • Class reservation window is 7 days prior to class
      • Class sign in is 24 hours prior to class

  • All members required to sign COVID agreement prior to participating in training

      • This is sent to each member through WODIFY and can be signed digitally. This is an agreement with our protocols.
  • Prototype COVID Advisory Board

    • We have created a COVID advisory board made up of 7 of our members who are Medical Doctors, Nurse practitioners, and individuals working on the front line to be our advisors on COVID-related decisions.
    • We have been transparent about your safety and we have been transparent that we do not know everything so we have created an advisory board to refer to when having to make decisions related to COVID-19 protocols.
    • More information on this Board will be out soon.
  • Virtual Class and Virtual Coaching Options

    • Since Quarantine in March, we have pivoted all our training to be accessible to a virtual model.
      1. Group classes, 1-1 training, small group training, specialty classes, and nutrition consulting are all available through virtual delivery.
    • We have also added a Virtual Coaching option for those that are not open to coming indoors OR utilizing virtual classes.
      1. Virtual Coaching is a custom program delivered to you based on your goals. A coach connects with you to get an understanding of how often you would like OR need to exercise, what you specifically want to work on and what equipment you have available to you.
      2. Your program is delivered to you and you have a personal coach to hold you accountable and check in on you with your adherence to your program.

Again it’s important to us to keep you updated on all that we are doing, all that we have done, and all that we will continue to do. There is much more to come and we are all in this together. We appreciate your continued support and we are so grateful to be able to continue to serve you and help you all towards your fitness goals!
