WHAT IS THE PROTOTYPE BARBELL CLUB?
Prototype Barbell Club is the place to go in the Worcester County and Metrowest area to learn and develop your Olympic weightlifting (snatch, clean and jerk). It is home to nationally competitive athletes and runs multiple programs to help one improve their Olympic lifts.
Our process lays the foundation for a successful weightlifter through the teaching and coaching of proper technique, building long-term strength and continuing development of your mindset.
Our club can be used to help one improve their technique for CrossFit or enjoyment, build explosive strength and power for athletics or to compete locally and nationally in the sport of weightlifting.
We have a Youth and an Adult Barbell Club Program:

Book A Free No Sweat Intro with one of our Coaches, this can be done in person or virtually.
At your No Sweat Intro, your Coach prescribes which strength path is the best for you and your goals.
You’ll be set up with our custom app, begin to come to coached hours and begin your weightlifting or strength journey!
My weightlifting journey started five years ago when I transitioned from CrossFit to Olympic Weightlifting. Joe has been my coach for three years and is someone I trust and can count on. Weightlifting has allowed me to become physically and mentally strong while giving me a space to meet some really cool people who share the same passion. No matter what is going on in life, the platform is a place you can go to focus on yourself and crush some weights! Joe creates an environment where everyone is welcome, all successes are celebrated, and each athlete is the others #1 fan. My only regret is not picking up a barbell sooner! I love being a part of Prototype Barbell Club!

I have been a part of the Prototype Barbell Club for about 3 years now and it has truly been an incredible experience. However, as much as I love the sport, the main reason I continue to be part of the Prototype Barbell Club is Joe Black. He has created an incredible environment where there is a healthy balance of fun and hard work, and everyone can feel safe and supported. But beyond this, he is an amazing coach who is committed to helping his athletes inside, and outside, the gym. He has pushed me to be the best athlete I can be and has continuously given me the resources to excel to the next level. He has always encouraged me to learn more and has given me many opportunities to do so. I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of the Prototype Barbell Club and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get stronger and have some fun!
