Share your Prototype experience and fitness journey

I just recenlty hit my one year anniversary at Prototype! Prior to joining Prototype I did not like to exercise.  I had tried a few different things over the years (like Orange Theory) but nothing ever stuck. My husband, Jeff, was always talking about Prototype and that I should try it.
I was hesitant because of all that I had heard about Crossfit gyms, especially after not having been on a solid workout program for years.  Plus, I had spine surgery and was nervous to injure myself. I agreed to a call with Mike and he convinced me to give it a try by taking personal training sessions with Brian. Brian was extremely knowledgeable and helped me ease back into working out without hurting myself! After doing training sessions with Brian for a couple of months, I started working with Jon. Jon pushed me to get stronger and one day suggested I take a class that he was teaching so that I could see for myself that I could do it. He was right!  I did it. And I have been doing it ever since!

What is your favorite part about being at Prototype?

I love that no two days are the same.  You cannot get bored with the workouts. I love that the coaches can modify the workouts as needed, while keeping it challenging for each individual. I also love being a part of the group classes and the community. And last but not least, I love when I get to work out with my family!

What are your hobbies and activities?

I work with start up businesses and have never really had time to develop hobbies outside of spending time with family and friends and our dogs. I can now say that Prototype/working out has become a hobby! (this is shocking to anyone that knows me!)

How has (if it has) Prototype helped you outside the gym (in sports etc)?

Prototype has made me stronger and more confident. I don’t necessarily look different, but I feel different. It has also helped me manage stress.  Since the pandemic began I have been working from home. Getting out of the house in the morning and going to the gym and seeing lots of smiling faces has been so helpful!

What are you continuing fitness goals to this point?

I am only a year into my journey and I have a lot to learn. I want to continue to improve my strength and my Crossfit skills, especially pull-ups, jumping rope and potentially even box jumps.

I have a few, but this one quote is what everything else stems from for me: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
