Social & Community Events

Since Prototype was founded in 2012, we have been deliberate with hosting multiple events each year, after all if we can help make an impact in other areas and have fund doing it, why not?!. From hosting internal competitions for our membership to hosting external fundraisers, we believe in the motto “one community, one family” here at Prototype. It’s something we pride ourselves on is experimenting with how we can give back but also how we can create fun/foster community at Prototype.

Below are several events we have hosted in the past along with upcoming events this year!

Row for WASA

One of our biggest fundraising events at Prototype! Originally this event started as Row for Crows which directly supported the non profit, Calling All Crows (501(c) 3). In 2019 our goal was to raise $20,000 and we did. Each year our goal has been to beat the previous year and add extra meters for each team to row. To date this event has raised over $100,000.

In 2023, we partnered with WASA (Westborough Athletic and Social Association) to co-host this event, with 100% of the proceeds going to support WASA and their efforts to improve Westborough youth athletics and social initiatives. In 2024, we helped raise close to another4 $20,000.

24 Heroes in 24 Hours

At Prototype, we believe in supporting our troops and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. In 2019 we started to run this event (24 Heroes in 24 Hours) to support local and national military veteran organizations. A unique element that CrossFit has brought to light is they have created a number of “Hero workouts” to honor those that have passed away in the line of duty. These range from military members to police and firefighters.

This event is a 24 hour event where we run a Hero workout on each hour for 24 hours on/our around Veteran’s Day. Each participant is able to donate and raise money for the local or national Veteran’s organization that we choose for that year.

To date, we have raised over $10,000 for various Veteran organizations. You can read more about our 2020 event here.

Ignite Forging Youth Resilience Workout

In 2022, we were able to create a relationship with the non profit organization, Forging Youth Resilience. Forging Youth Resilience (FYR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers young people to build physical and mental strength for life by providing access to a network of community-based fitness programs and mentorship.

This year we ran a fundraising workout for this organization where the money goes to paying for youth athletes gym memberships where there are FYR affiliates. We had over 50 of our members who up, support and get sweaty for this awesome workout! With the efforts of our community, we were able tor raise a total of $5835.
