Thank you for a successful Row for WASA!

We had our 4th annual rowing event this year on November 4th and it was a huge success! You can click here to see last years Rowing event highlights!

This year, we helped raise over $17,000 for Westborough Athletic and Social Association (WASA)! We had a ton of support from the local community and businesses. We had over 200 in attendance… parents and kids, small businesses, members from our own community… it was a HUGE event and a ton of fun! To see more, check out the video below from Westborough TV for the highlights!

Row for WASA 2023

How this event works…

If you weren’t at the event (you missed out!) teams were created (4-6 people) to row collectively 23,000 meters. Unlike traditional fitness competitions, the goal wasn’t who rowed the fastest (but it did get competitive!), the goal was which team could fundraise the MOST. The top fundraising team and the top fundraising individual were highlighted and awarded at the event! Each team had a minimum fundraising goal (which they all hit), and in addition to our amazing sponsors and donors, we also had a raffle to generate more money for WASA.

To give you an idea of the event, it was an absolute blast!  We had a DJ playing music keeping the energy up and everyone motivated to keep pushing themselves to finish the 23,000m, we had a bouncy house for kids, face paint and coloring station for kids, food vendors like chic-fil-a and Anzios pizza supplying food and Cold Harbour providing adult beverages!

We had so many vendors stationed around to provide food, drinks, and even much needed massages after all the rowing or even if you weren’t rowing. The whole event felt like a big block party with friends and family, all coming together to support each other and the community while also enjoying some cold beer, pizza, smoothies from Vivacity and more.

Lots of laughs, with kids running around getting their face painted and playing in the bouncy house we had set up. We had a 50/50 raffle and other opportunities to win some prizes, we even had a parade that went by!

If you didn’t get a chance to make it this year, I encourage you to come next year, you don’t want to miss out again!

Thank you to everyone that participated in rowing, donated, and for those that came to the event to cheer everyone on, we appreciate you!

You Rock:

In previous years we rowed 22,000 meters and this year the goal was to row 23,000 meters. With 18 teams in total the “7am plus” team finished in first place and a close second was the “Dunkin’ Rowers”.

Why We Rowed:

Prototype worked alongside WASA to aid in supporting our local community. WASA raises funds and promotes initiatives to serve the people who need it most. WASA has been dedicated to supporting Westborough youth in their academic and athletic endeavors. They have donated over $100,000 in the last 10 years to support our local youth including providing $30,000 in college scholarships to promising, young Westborough High School students.

Shoutout to Dan McCarthy and Mark Higgins from WASA for helping out during the event and all the preparation.

Thank You!

Once again we could not have had such a successful day without all of you! Another thank you to the entire community for coming together and giving your time, energy and compassion into such an impactful event! Thank you to all our sponsors that came and helped make this event a success.
