Giving Back at Prototype Training Systems! Over $25,000 dollars donated!

Mike Collette • October 12, 2020

As you know, community and service are some of our main core values at Prototype Training Systems. It is so important to us to give back to our community and are excited to grow this aspect of our program.

In 2019 we raised $20,000 for the Calling all Crows Foundation.

In 2020 we began raising money to help  local families who encountered tragedy.

And then Covid-19 hit… the pandemic was in full force and people everywhere needed help.  While it wasn’t easy as a small business during these times we felt extremely grateful to have a strong community and many resources. We were compelled to keep giving back so we looked to help!

When we look for signs, we often look right in front of us. In our very own community we had Prototype Members who as front line workers risked their own life and safety to help those sick and in need. We wanted to thank them so with your help and in collaboration with Arturo’s Ristorante during the 21 Day Challenge we were able to provide 100 Front Line Workers with a Gratitude Lunch.

We are thrilled to donate $1500 to the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition.

While we were really excited to be able to show a token of thanks to the front line workers in our local community we knew that in order to start making a real difference that we had to look to  helping those most in need.

With the Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ   movement in full swing, we knew that we wanted to do better at creating a more diverse and inclusive environment. This is something that will  continue to take time and won’t happen overnight. We are in the process of creating learning and educational opportunities so we can start to create a more diverse and inclusive environment at Prototype and this will be a mission that requires all hands on deck!

In the meantime we wanted to directly assist those in need from these specific communities. At the time healthcare was just revoked and limited to those in the Trans community and statistics were showing that people in the Black Community were being disproportionately affected by Covid in more ways than one. We chose to donate the bulk of our funds raised for the 21 Day Challenge to the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition.

This non-profit organization helps  people of the Black-Trans community to find medical, employment and housing resources. A lot of our money donated will go to care kits for those who are now homeless as a result of the economic crisis and lack of health care funding for Black Trans and will make a direct impact on those affected.

What’s next?  We are continuing to partner and collaborate with the Calling all Crows foundation that is a non-profit organization that seeks to create awareness and change for women and girls. In addition to these missions they have started 2 more that focus on conditions for those incarcerated during Covid AND for educating on Diversity and Racism in different sports/Arts spaces.

We are one of this organizations major supporters and have raised about $2000 dollars this year so far with the #Levelup45 challenge. Our main goal was to beat our $20,000 dollars we raised in 2019. While we realize that this may be quite the feat during quarantine we are going to approach it just like we recommend approaching any goal. In small, tangible steps.

If you would like to donate additional monies to the fund please e-mail Leah below:

Thank you for being a monumental part of our service initiatives. We couldn’t do it without you and look forward to helping more people in 2021!

Love,

Leah
