We will be reopening soon: A letter from Prototype

We wanted to inform you that the state of Massachusetts has moved into Phase 3 of the reopening plan starting Monday! As this is big news, we want to keep you updated on where Prototype is and our plan to reopen.

What are we doing and what have we been doing?

In Phase 2.2 we were allowed to start private 1:1 and 1:2 training. This has gone very well! We have seen more and more of our 1-1 clients come back into Prototype. With that said, we have and we will continue to offer virtual and outdoor training for those not comfortable coming into the facility quite yet. Our priority is always to keep everyone safe and to respect others.

As indoor 1:1 and 1:2 training has commenced, we have be offering our group classes outdoors at Prototype. These classes have expanded to class caps of 15 members, with strict sanitation and distancing protocols. In addition, as of this coming week we have outdoor classes offered Monday-Friday from 5:30am to 5:30pm.

It’s always important to us to help as many people as we can, while keeping both our members and staff safe.

So what’s up with Phase 3?

Phase 3 will allow us to operate indoor classes at 40% occupancy.  We need to see what our official operating capacity for the facility will be, but by our estimate it will be around 25-30 people in the facility at a time based on our 7,000 sq/ft. The plan as of now is to continue with our 15 person class cap when we launch indoors as we have been doing with our outdoor classes.

We are waiting for the more lengthy press release with the standards on the actual operations and we are hoping that like the outdoor classes if we keep distance between each other, not sharing equipment, and sterilize we can workout without masks on but for now the standard is masks are required.

We most likely will NOT start indoor classes this Monday July 6th but the following week (Week of the 13th). This will give all of us more time to prepare lauching the classes properly and getting the facility prepared. We will continue to offer our outdoor classes everyday of the week (M-F) and make a safe transition.

Once we have all our procedures documented and all updates from Gov Baker, we will announce the official start of inside group classes and a return to indoor group workouts.

REMINDER:

If you have traveled out of the Massachusetts/New England area the 14 day quarantine is still in effect for you. Please do not come to group classes and join us on Zoom for 2 weeks.

Below he answers some questions and shares his experience. Share your experience at Prototype—favorite memories, moments, or stories or what’s your favorite part/what do you look forward to? What stands out most about Prototype is the camaraderie. The members, especially in the 7AM and Noon classes, create a great balance of fun and focus. Everyone is friendly and supportive, but when it’s time to work, people take the WODs seriously and push themselves to improve. That combination can be hard to find. All the coaches play a huge role in setting that tone. My favorite moments are the everyday ones i.e. showing up, putting in the work together, leaving class feeling accomplished. What I look forward to most is continuing to train alongside people who genuinely enjoy the process and want to get better. “Because summer’s coming.” Who at Prototype has made the biggest impact on you and why? As a dad of two young daughters, the people who’ve made the biggest impact on me at Prototype are the women in the gym. They all train with confidence, strength, consistency and set a powerful example. It’s the kind of environment I hope my daughters grow up seeing where strength is normal and earned. What are your hobbies and activities outside the gym? I dabble a bit in photography, star gazing and love to travel. Playing atrocious golf. How has Prototype helped you or solved a problem for you? Prototype has helped me stay active. There’s a real sense of happiness and accomplishment after each workout, and that feeling has become addictive in the best way. Knowing I’ll leave class feeling stronger, physically and mentally, keeps me coming back. Prototype has turned working out from something I should do into something I genuinely want to do, which has made a huge difference in maintaining a sustainable fitness routine. What are your current fitness goals? Steady progress and longevity. If I can keep lifting, moving well, and feeling good years from now, I’ll consider that a win.
